FAQ

1. I want to check if an organization is certified by a DAB Accredited Body to a particular standard.

Information on organizations certified by DAB accredited bodies is available from the Certified Organization Search within the DAB Register.

Search tips Enter the first few letters of the organization name into the Organization search box. This should generate a list of organizations that match those criteria. If you get too many results increase the number of letters of the organization name. If your result is unsuccessful check the spelling of the organization’s name, enter fewer letters, or if the organization has more than one word in its name (i.e. ”ABC Export”) enter a few letters of the second word (i.e. "Export").

CIf you are unable to locate the organization you should contact the Certification Body who certified the organization.

2. I want to get my product tested. Who do I approach?

Product testing is usually undertaken by test laboratories. An Internet search for test laboratories for your product should produce a list of testing laboratories.

3. I want to get training in a system such as QMS (ISO 9001), EMS (ISO 14001), OHSMS (OHSAS 18001), Food Safety Management Systems (ISO 22000). Where can I obtain a list of trainers?

8. What’s the difference between Accreditation and Certification?

Accreditation and Certification are regularly used interchangeably. However, in the conformity assessment industry both terms have very specific meanings. In layman’s terms accreditation can be described as “certifying the certifiers”. Conformity assessment bodies (CABs), more widely known as Certification Bodies, are accredited after they successfully undergo a process of assessment by an accreditation body like DAB, to ensure they meet international standards that among other things assess the body’s impartiality and competence. Certification is undertaken by an accredited CAB and is a process by which an independent and competent third party certifies that a product, system or person, conforms to specific requirements.
